Chiefs are simply ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Now imagine a place where they can come together and be celebrated for their successes and cheer each other on as they reach the next major milestone. That place now exists. Welcome to Chief’s Society.
Chief’s Society was created out of a desire to connect, collaborate and celebrate community. Who could have imagined that a couple of friends would start such a utopian society, the foundation for an empire, during a global pandemic? Well, that’s exactly what happened…
When the world had shut down, three HBCU friends (Hamptonians) united by architecture, living in different cities, were kindling a spark. They would find themselves connecting…over video chats with a nice, smooth libation in each of their hands. One of these fine professionals was already interested in fine spirits after an aficionado in Chicago shared the beauty and complexity of whiskey with him. However, the others weren’t necessarily keenly focused on whiskey until that magical day when there was a sudden awakening for Travis Maverick. He asked his friends, “What if we made our own whiskey?” And from that very moment in 2021, it was on…and poppin’…pun intended.
The partners took their time, focusing on the Chief’s Society concept first, and then came the premium whiskey.
And now, the two are blended together in a perfect marriage…a double entendre that’s catching the world by fire. A legacy for their children and their children’s children, and a way to celebrate those achieving greatness in our elite society. That’s the beauty of Chief’s Society.
It’s a movement that celebrates diversity and unity, oneness in mindset, where clinking glasses echo with shared triumphs and infectious laughter. A place where you feel seen, valued, and part of something larger than life.

Meet the Chief’s…..
Three friends and brothers from different places and walks of life, with different life experiences found common ground in building Chief’s Society. They are creating a space and a movement that’s bigger than themselves. One that accepts people for who they are, where they’ve come from and where they’re trying to go. Their intentions are to celebrate ALL the Chiefs they encounter along the way, and provide them with a premium whiskey experience with which they can say CHEERS, CHIEF!
Travis Maverick
The originator of Chief’s Society, Travis Maverick (The Cowboy) hails from the Home of the Blues and Soul, and the Birthplace of Rock ‘n Roll: Memphis, TN. Growing up as an only child gave him plenty of room to imagine and dream big. Simply stated: Travis stands on business. He has a strong work ethic and believes in the power of networking, community and connections. Luckily, he’s in great company with his two friends, brothers and business partners.
Travis is a go-getter, motivated by the best job in the world: fatherhood. He sets major goals and pushes until each goal is reached. His reward of choice? Before Chief’s Society, it was a nice cigar and a whiskey neat, which, in part, planted the seed for Chief’s Society. Now he reaches for a cigar and a Chief’s Society neat to relax and celebrate after the work is done.
A courageous risk-taker, Travis’ experience in the financial world provides a strong foundation for his collaborative efforts in shaping Chief’s Society into a distinguished brand. He won’t stop until Chief’s Society has become a household name. That’s when he will know he’s “made it!”

David Kane
On the west side in the City of Brotherly Love (Philadelphia, PA) is where the story of David Kane (The Pragmatist) begins. During his school years, David excelled at track and field. This competitive nature of sports bred a lifelong quest to win. This winning attitude led him to Hampton, where he not only majored in architecture, but made lifelong friends who, unbeknownst to any of them, would one day become his brothers and eventually business partners.
David is an old soul, a thinker who pays acute attention to details, and makes calculated moves based on research and strategy. He’s frugal by nature but finds that challenging to maintain when it comes to fast cars, travel and his child. When he’s not working, Dave can be found biking, spending time with family, dabbling in photography, and drinking his new favorite whiskey concoction.
One of Dave’s most enjoyable experiences along this journey is seeing how everyone has come into their own, grown and evolved over their 20+ year friendship. And building a brand that everyone can enjoy with friends is icing on the cake.

Jerome LeRoy
As it should come as no surprise, Jerome Johnson (The Adventurer) has lived all over the world. He currently calls Atlantic City, NJ home but this is only after serving as an architect in the Army Reserves and living in South Korea, Kuwait, and about 5 states, including Hawaii. Jerome also grew up as an only child and considers his business partners among those he regards as family and trusts with his life. He’s the most even-keeled of the three and has unmatched patience, poise and knows how to craft a good cocktail.
But don’t be mistaken - Jerome is a thrill-seeker, a true son of the world, always looking for the next adventure and opportunity. He loves art, chess, exotic food and tropical weather. When trying out a new trendy bar or fine dining establishment, he asks the bartender to create something for him that he’s never had before. (Did we mention he’s adventurous?)
Though he admits, he never would have chosen this journey for himself, he’s excited to see where he and his partners will go and grow. The highlight for him so far? The process - reaching each and every milestone - together. Jerome looks forward to growing the Chief’s Society brand to encompass even more than whiskey.
